Pacecraft Endurance Coaching is a run and triathlon coaching service based in Rockhampton, Queensland. We deliver performance-focused training programs built around the individual athlete’s goals, lifestyle, and the time they have available to train.

Pacecraft is led by coach Rhys Jones, who brings over 12 years of experience competing in endurance sport. His background in individual performance sports began much earlier, racing BMX and mountain bikes growing up. Those early years developed a strong understanding of the mindset required in individual sport, where preparation, discipline, and consistency drive long-term improvement.

Since moving into triathlon and running, Rhys has progressed from enticer distance triathlons through to Ironman racing. Along the way he has qualified for the ITU Olympic Distance World Championships, the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, and the Ironman World Championships in Kona.

His personal best performances include a 16:18 5km, 33:18 10km, 1:14:51 half marathon, 2:01 Olympic triathlon, 3:59 Ironman 70.3, and 9:28 Ironman.

The Pacecraft coaching philosophy centres on consistency over intensity. Rather than relying on occasional big sessions, the focus is on stacking sustainable training days into productive weeks and long training blocks. Over time this builds durable fitness, reduces injury risk, and allows athletes to improve steadily.

At Pacecraft, the goal is simple: train consistently, train intelligently, and let the results come from the work done over months and years.

Who is coaching for?

Coaching at Pacecraft is designed for athletes of all levels.

Over the years I have worked with complete beginners starting from zero, helping them build the fitness and confidence required to finish major endurance events; including athletes who have progressed from no endurance background to completing a full Ironman within seven months.

At the other end of the spectrum, I have also coached experienced athletes who had plateaued training on their own and were looking for a more structured approach to finally reach the next level; including athletes who have gone on to qualify for the Ironman World Championships.

Whether your goal is to finish your first race, improve your personal best, or qualify for major championship events, the focus remains the same: consistent, structured training that fits into your life.

10-Week Race Preparation Programs

These programs are ideal for athletes preparing for a specific race who want a structured training plan without committing to ongoing coaching.

Programs include 10 weeks of structured training plus race week and a recovery week (12 weeks total).
